A meeting of the NC Central Working Committee (CWC) on Tuesday concluded that necessary preparations for the convention would not be completed by the end of February. An official decision for the postponement of the convention to a later date is expected on Thursday. [break]
“There is a consensus on the deferral of the convention but discussions are underway to fix a new date,” said Arjun Narsingh KC, the party´s spokesperson, adding the meeting on Thursday will take a decision in that regard.
KC said that the convention is likely to be held either in April or May. But some central committee members have suggested that the convention be held in August/September (Bhadra) so that it would not affect the constitution drafting process.
During the meeting, central committee leaders claimed that party´s role in the government has not been effective. Some central committee members also asked the CWC to discuss the role of the High Level Political Mechanism.
