NC prez hopeful of timely statute

BIRGUNJ, March 20: President of Nepali Congress (NC), Shushil Koirala, said that ongoing peace process would be concluded based on consensus among the major political parties.



Speaking at a program organized to commemorate the second anniversary of the passing away of the late Girija Prasad Koirala by the NC Birgunj Municipality Committee on Tuesday, the NC President said that late Koirala had a vital contribution to bring the Maoist rebels into the mainstream politics by forging consensus and unity through talks. "Democratic constitution can be promulgated by completing the peace process if we move ahead by keeping the same bases in the center," said Koirala.



Ruling out the fresh rift in the party after the formation of ad hoc committee of the party´s student wing, Koirala said, "There is full unity in the party. NC will move ahead in unison."



During the program, NC Vice-president Sushil Koirala, general secretary duo Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Sitaula, treasurer Chitra Lekha Yadav, leader Bimalendra Nidhi and Arjun Narsingh KC, among others were present.
