Nine injured as passenger bus overturns in Hetauda

The bus, bearing registration number Na 6 Kha 7457, was en route to Pokhara from Janakpur when it went out of control and met with the accident at around 11:15 am, according to police.

MAKWANPUR, July 4: Nine people were injured after a passenger bus overturned near the Ratomate Checkpoint in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-15, Makwanpur, along the Mahendra Highway on Saturday.



The bus, bearing registration number Na 6 Kha 7457, was en route to Pokhara from Janakpur when it went out of control and met with the accident at around 11:15 am, according to police.

Among the 30–35 passengers on board, nine sustained injuries and were immediately rescued and taken to Hetauda Hospital for treatment. Police said all the injured are in stable condition.


A police team from the Ratomate Police Post and the Area Police Office, Pashupatinagar, was deployed to the accident site soon after receiving information about the incident.


Police have taken the bus driver, 50-year-old Dhaniram BK, a permanent resident of Mahottari who is currently residing in Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-8, Dhanusha, into custody.


Efforts are underway to remove the overturned bus with the help of a crane. Traffic along the highway remains smooth, and further investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
