Minister Poudel urges political parties to join poll

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Poudel has again urged the political parties not to make the matter related to the government formation ´an issue´ and to take part in the forthcoming Constituent Assembly election.



"Election is more important than the government in democratic system and this fact should be realised by heart", he stressed.[break]



"There may be both agreement and disagreement with the government formation issues in democracy and we highly respect this, but the matter of election should not be made the issues of debate as this is the soul of democracy", he said. "Taking up state power by the people elected representatives is a beauty of democracy".



Addressing a programme organised by the Lions Club International District 325 B 2 here today, he said democracy would not go longer without election.



Minister Poudel who is also a spokesperson for the election government said the government has taken all the possible measures to convince all the political parties to join the election."



Holding the second CA election announced for November 19 is the sole objective of the government and it has no desire to remain in power for a long time", he said and urged one and all not to doubt over the timely election.



All the preparations necessary for the election are over, the parties are busy in nominating the candidates and the Election Commission is working round the clock



to make the election successful, the Information and Communications Minister further said.



Minister Poudel who is also looking after the portfolios of Education Ministry said an illiteracy rate of the country is still 34 per cent and the government has launched literacy campaign to root out such social taboo and focused on the development of education sector.



He urged the Club to do more for the development of education and health in rural areasThe Lions Club is a social organisation which is working in the sectors of health and education.
