Mega conservation event to be held from Sep 6-15

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Mega conservation event-- IUCN World Conservation Congress (WCC)--is being held from September 6-15 at the International Convention Center (ICC) in Jeju, Republic of Korea, a press statement issued by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on Thursday reads.



Around 8000 delegates including government leaders, NGOs and top professionals across the world will make to Jeju to participate in the event which is held every four years.



According to the statement, the congress aims hold discussions on how to manage the natural environment for human, social and economic development. The theme for this year is Nature.



Besides this, the event will endorse a Program Framework of IUCN for 2013-16 with focus on biodiversity conservation, sharing nature benefits equitably and fairly, and nature based solutions to climate change, food security and development, the statement adds.



All 15 Nepal based members of IUCN along with the state member, Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation, will participate in the Congress.
