Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Balaju on Saturday took into custody a person who killed his wife for refusing to cook chicken for him in Dallu of Kathmandu.[break]
Kanchha Pariyar, 35, originally from Kebalpur-7 of Dhading, had married Niru Pariyar three years ago. Niru has a daughter from her first marriage. They had been living in a rented apartment since.
“When we reached the spot, neighbors had already taken the seriously injured Niru to Bir Hospital but her husband had already fled the scene,” said Inspector Shyam Babu Oliya. “When his wife was pronounced dead at around 7 pm Saturday, Kanchha went to the hospital and surrendered to the police.”
According to the police, both of them were drunk when the incident occurred.
“I asked my wife to cook meat but she refused and began quarrelling with me. She was drunk and I struck her head with a wooden plank in a fit of rage,” Kanchha confessed to the police.
“I went outside after my wife started screaming but when I returned she was not there. I rushed to the hospital after I learnt that she had been taken to Bir Hospital,” Kanchha said in his statement to the police.
“We have been investigating into the case, while the district court on Sunday has sent him to five days in judicial custody for further investigation,” added Oliya. “It does not look like a planned murder though.”
“I had no reason to kill her as she was very kind and loved me a lot,” said Kanchha. “But I could not stand her when she turned violent after drinking alcohol.”
According to the police, Niru’s body has been taken to the Teaching Hospital for postmortem. The relatives of the deceased have demanded strict punishment to Kanchha.
