Tamang, who was attended to by chief of the surgery department Dr CS Agrawal, had breathed her last on Tuesday evening after undergoing a kidney-stone surgery a week ago.

“The doctors are trying to defend the negligent doctor but we won´t let this happen,” said Janak Rishi Rai, a member of the probe committee formed to investigate into the death.

“We had to intensify our protests and picket the office of the vice chancellor because other doctors have come in support of the doctor responsible for Manmaya´s death,” said Rai.

Only after the formation of a five-member probe committee, the locals had allowed the doctors to resume services at the hospital on Tuesday.
