He said he undertook the current countrywide tour in order to understand views of party cadres. [break]
Speaking to reporters in Dang, Khadka said, claimed that the party cadres have urged him to be the party president. “I haven´t declared whether I want to be the president or general secretary, but everybody wants to reach the top and I too want that.”
Khadka opined that in case the Maoists don´t abide by the spirit of the 12-point agreement, his party should form ´youth squads´. He added that a proposal in this regard would be taken to the party´s central meeting.
“YCL and Youth Force beat up our cadres. How can we keep quiet?” Khadka questioned. He said that such a squad is needed to “save” the party.
In another context, Khadka said the federal model drawn along ethnic lines would disintegrate the country. “That is why we proposed federalism on basis of geography and distribution of natural resources."
He added that some NC leaders themselves were against the party proposal and took to Maoist federal model. “Some friends supported Maoists, but the party never wanted to invite ethnic war,” Khadka emphasized.
Stating that there is no alternative to the present government, Khadka said that the party would not withdraw its support to the present government just because one person wants so.
