Japan provides Rs 9.7 million in aid to BP Eye Foundation

Kathmandu, March 17: The Japanese government has announced a financial support of Rs 9.7 million to B P Eye Foundation, a non-government organization based in Kathmandu.



A press statement issued by the Embassy of Japan on Thursday stated that the Japanese government is providing the financial support to the foundation under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

A grant contract for the project is scheduled to be signed and exchanged between Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Masashi Ogawa and Prof Dr Purna Chandra Karmacharya, chairman of BP Eye Foundation on Friday, read the statement.


The grant will be used for the construction of a hostel at the Children's Hospital for Eye, ENT and Rehabilitation Services (CHEERS), established by the foundation.


The hostel will be used as a space to provide training to children with visual and hearing impairment so that they can enter school.
