Hassim out, Tandukar in for U-19

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Tuesday announced a change in the Nepal Under-19 national squad for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Elite Cup on Tuesday.



CAN dropped batsman Mohammad Hassim and took in wicketkeeper batsman Shiva Kumar Tandukar into the team.[break]



“Hassim´s date of birth in the documents submitted to CAN and Asian Cricket Council did not match with his passport and other legal documents. Hence, we have no option other than dropping him out,” said Bashant Raj Satyal (Arun), the team manager of the squad.


Bridgewater, Reliance win



Bridgewater International, Reliance International Academy and National Campus won their respective matches in the boys´ category of the First Bagmati Modern Inter-college Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.



Bridgewater defeated the hosts Bagmati ´B´ 36-29 while Reliance pulled off a 51-43 victory over Valley College.



Likewise, National thrashed St Lawrence 58-25 at the hosts´ court at Sukedhara, Kathmandu. Likewise, Whitehouse and NASA emerged victorious in the girls´ section.



Whitehouse eased past Nobel Academy 23-12 while NASA beat the hosts Bagmati 35-22.



Shankardev, K&K in semis



Shankardev and K&K Campus entered the semifinals of the Fifth Prime BBA Cup Boys´ Knockout Football Tournament on Tuesday. Shankardev thrashed the hosts Prime 3-0 at the Chyasal Football Ground, Lalitpur.



Bikas Sapkota scored a brace while Suman Shrestha added another goal for the winners. Shankardev will take on Campion in the semifinal. Meanwhile, K&K defeated Nepal Commerce Campus 4-3 in tiebreaker after the regulation time ended in a 2-2 draw.



K&K will face Kathmandu College of Management and Information Technology (KCMIT) in another semifinal on Thursday.
