Korean embassy hands over Korean language textbooks for High School

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal organised Korean language Text Book Handover Ceremony at South Korean Embassy in Kathmandu, highlighting the growing interest in High School education across Nepal.

KATHMANDU, May 16: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal organised Korean language Text Book Handover Ceremony at South Korean Embassy in Kathmandu, highlighting the growing interest in High School education across Nepal.



The books were handed over under the Korean Language Promotion program launched by the King Sezong Foundation in 2012 to promote global understanding of Korean language through literature. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal on Friday 2026 handed over 600 basic Korean Language books for around 15 highschool's gread 9 to 12 students in Nepal.


The ceremony was attended by Principlal Gambhir Gurung of Future Light English High School, Rupandehi and Ambassador of South Korea to Nepal Park Taeyoung as well as the embassy diplomats.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Park said that the embassy has been actively organising various programmes to promote Korean language exchanges between Nepal and Korea. He noted that continued mutual cooperation would further strengthen bilateral ties and elevate relations between the two nations to new heights.


The Korean Embassy in Nepal conducts a survey to assess the demand for Korean language textbooks in High School level education centers that offer Korean language as an optional subject. Ambassador Park praised King Sezong institution as a key step to strengthen Korea-Nepal ties in terms of education, employment and entrepreneurship.


Principal Gurung thanked to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Korea for huge support of basic Korean books to high school students in Nepal. He quoted that it will help students to learn about Korean language and enhance bilateral relations.


Ambassador Park congratulated the SEE first batch 28 students from Future Light English High School and highlight that these books are bridges of knowledge that allow to explore the rich tapestry of Korea, understand the perspectives and inspire new ideas and innovations in Nepal. Ambassador Park also expressed his congratulations on the occasion, mentioning that the long-standing friendly relations between Nepal and South Korea.


Embassy of the Republic of Korea helps for 36 prospective Korean language teachers training courses in 2023 and 2024 at Bishwo Bhasa Campus (T.U) for Korean Language Teacher Training Programme, with financial support of USD 63,000.


In 2027 SEE exam more than 15 High School plans to include Korean language as an optional subject in secondary education Examination.
