“The funds are being misused since the allowances are not given to the combatants directly,” Chemjong told reporters at Biratnagar airport Friday. He informed that there will be some delay in this regard as the government is working out the process as per the guidelines.
As per the guideline, the government has to pay the soldiers directly. But the money is said to be misused by the UCPN (Maoist), which takes a lump sum from the state. The combatants are entitled to a monthly salary of Rs 5,000 per head and also a daily food allowance ranging from Rs 72-110.
Chemjong also added that the process has also been halted because the exact number of combatants in the camp has become uncertain. During the process of discharge of the disqualified combatants recently, 40 percent were reported missing.
“We will complete all these process within this month,” Minister Chemjong claimed.
