Talking to reporters upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, the former prime minister said his visit was fruitful in strengthening good relations between Nepal and India´s political leaderships. [break]
"I discussed a range of issues with the Indian leaders. The Indian leaders were of the view that it is up to the Nepali leader and people to decide how to resolve Nepal´s political issues and that they would only play a supportive role for that if requested by Nepali side," Nepal said.
Nepal said that the Indian leadership wants to see unity among Nepal´s political parties on holding Constituent Assembly elections scheduled for November 19.
Leading a three-member delegation the former prime minister had left for India on July 24 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. He had held a series of meetings with Indian leaders including the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Indian foreign minister Salman Khurshid, foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai and chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala is leaving for India on an official visit on August 4 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Singh.
