KATHMANDU, Feb 14: As a saying goes, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach,” a good delight made with love can pamper not only a man but all those who eat it.

The owner of Jyona Bellee Café and Restaurant, Binod Shrestha, lets Republica a take a sneak peek into his kitchen where Chef Rajendra Shrestha also treated us some quick recipes that one can easily make at home. [break]

So, if you don’t have a good budget or if you are too lazy to get dressed and spend your Valentines Day out, here’s a good way to compensate it.

Shahi jeera (cumin seeds)

Paste of ginger, garlic

Cashew, peanuts

One egg

Black salt.

Method

Get cozy with some warm French Onion Soup

Ingredients for one bowl

Three onions, peeled and cut into halves

Soya sauce

Worcester sauce

Deep fried chopped onions

Grated yak cheese

A slice of bread

One egg yolk

Salt and white pepper

Method

Boil two cups of water and add onions, salt and white pepper to taste, soy sauce and Worcester sauce. Let it simmer until it becomes brown-black. Toast the bread and add the grated cheese over it. Put the yolk and fried onions in the serving bowl and filter the onion stock over it. Add the bread with cheese on it.

Dessert time with Shahi Toast

One butter toasted bread slice

Layering – milk, sugar, yellow color (optional).
