PANITANKI, Morang, Feb 9: Cadres of the Kirant Janawadi Workers Party have been troubling the local business community and employees with their donation threats in Village Development Committees (VDCs) in the north of Morang district.

The Kirant Janawadi Morcha -- a federation of different ethnic organizations operating in the districts -- has sent letters to different businessmen and employees of Kerabari VDC demanding money from them. It has also warned of dire consequences if they fail to pay the amount.

Police said the Morcha´s threatening letters have created panic and fear among the employees and businessmen in the area and they are afraid to report such incidents of donation threats to the police force.

The Morcha and its constituent different ethnic groups have been waging struggle to create a separate Kirant state in the east of the country.
