KATHMANDU, Aug 18: More than 30 youth organizations such as YUWA, VSO International, UNFPA, Youth Initiative, Restless Development, and We Inspire Nepal, celebrated International Youth Day on August 15. Organized in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Youth Mela 2015 had a number of programs for the participating youth, and government officials.

The 'carnival style' event had a discussion session, 5x20 Guff Gaff, on five different themes such as Reconstruction, Local Planning Process and Governance, Social Media, Civic Engagement amongst Nepali Youth, and Youth and Accountability. Five speakers spoke and discussed on these themes with the participants.

Other programs included stalls set up by the youth, performance by Nepal Breakdance Foundation, and a skit.

At the end of the event, in a program titled 'Safaltaka Haathharu' eight young people shared their experiences about working to bring positive changes in the society. They also urged everyone to become active citizens.
