Delay in constitution writing worries prez

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has expressed serious concern over political parties putting the constitution writing and the peace process on backburner in their pursuit for power.



"The major parties are in the race to lead the new government that has overshadowed the issue of new constitution and peace process," he said.[break]



He also urged the political parties to forge consensus to resolve the current stalemate besieging the country. Replying to questions from journalists in an interaction program organized by Reporters´ Club at his official residence, the head of the state said, "There should be consensus among the top three parties to settle major agendas."



He also expressed his serious concern over the bleak political and economic condition of the country. Yadav said, "The three governments formed after the Constituent Assembly (CA) election have failed so far to give the new constitution to the nation."
