KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Communist Party of Nepal (Samyukta) has withdrawn its support to the government saying that the current ruling leadership utterly failed to resolve the ongoing political deadlock and pushed the country into a serious political as well as economic crisis.

The party’s central working committee meeting on Tuesday took the decision as it concluded that the government was a failure in various fronts.

“On political front, this government further complicated the Madhes issue let alone resolving it. On economic front, the country has been pushed into a serious crisis ever since this government was formed,” CPN (Samyukta) Chairman Ganesh Sah told Republica. “Moreover, inflation and black market of essential goods has become rampant but the government has done nothing to control it.”

Sah also accused the government of not taking proper diplomatic initiatives to end the blockade even as common people were badly hit by the supply crisis.

The party has three seats in the 601-member parliament and the government doesn’t face any immediate challenge due to the fringe party’s withdrawal of its support.
