Chandradev Joshi, chairman of the party that commands five seats in parliament, said they decided to withdraw support to the government as the prime minister has failed to fulfill commitments he made before being elected to the post. [break]
“We had extended conditional support to the Bhattarai-led government as the prime minister had committed to complete the peace process within 45 days
of being elected to the post,” he said, adding, “But the prime minister and other ministers have made remarks against national interest.”
Joshi also accused the government of dancing to the tunes of Madhesi parties.
He said the prime minister’s move to abruptly sign BIPPA with India without consulting other parties, the government’s decision to legalize conflict-era land deals, the decision to distribute citizenship cards in contravention of the existing laws and a series of corruption scandals led them to take the decision.
Earlier, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) led by Upendra Yadav that has 12 members in parliament, and CPN-ML (Socialist) commanding four seats, had withdrawn support to the present government.
