Yadav, who is the supreme commander-in-chief of the NA, also observed a marchpast and a Mahashivaratri feu de joie performed by NA soldiers.
According to a press statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations of NA, various weapons, army vehicles and other equipment were displayed during the occasion. Similarly, NA also held exhibitions relating to wildlife conservation, environment conservation, engineering and development activities.

The ceremony was also marked by a dog show, parachute jumping and performances from all five development regions. Dr Yadav, the chief guest of the function, also launched Sipahi, an annual publication of the army.
On the same occasion, Army Chief Chhatra Man Singh Gurung presented insignias to 16 officials promoted to the post of lieutenants.
The ceremony was also attended by vice president, prime minister, cabinet ministers, and other government officials and heads of diplomatic missions in Nepal.
Meanwhile, President Yadav expressed his best wishes on the occasion of the Army Day. Issuing a message on the occasion, Dr Yadav praised all the ranks and files of the army for their invaluable contribution to the country.

He said the soldiers have ´won the hearts of the people´ through their ´bravery, discipline, honesty, unflinching determination, obedience, firm patriotism and apolitical characteristic.´
Labeling the Army as a "common institution" representing all sectors and areas of the country, Yadav said that he is assured that the Army will fulfill its responsibility by further ´strengthening its relation with the public´ while keeping its ´national character´ intact.
The prime minister, defense minister and army chief also issued messages on Army Day and praised the army´s role.
