KATHMANDU, May 20: The Asian Football Confederation ( AFC ) has slapped a fine of $ 6,000 on the All Nepal Football Association ( ANFA ) for security lapse during the last year’s AFC Challenge Cup Qualifier match between Nepal and Bangladesh, in Kathmandu.

A meeting of the Disciplinary Committee of AFC held in Kuala Lumpur on May 14 took a decision to this effect. In that match played in Dasarath Stadium, some of Nepal’s supporters had attacked Bangladeshi players by hurling mobile phones and lighters at them. Nepal had lost the match to Bangladesh 0-2. The AFC committee has said the fine will have to be paid within the next 30 days. As per the decision, the ANFA will also require to report to the AFC on whether those involved in the unruly act were identified and subsequently booked or not.
