The arrested include a member of Kochila Rajya Samiti, Mohan Timalsina, Samiti´s Sunsari district member Indra Silwal, Itahari area in-charge Naren Subbha, YCL district member Krishna Magar, Itahari area deputy secretary Upendra Ghimire and Tanka Basnet. The other Maoist activists are Ramesh Dahal, Deepak Rai, Suman, Samjana Shiva and Suraj Silwal.
Inspector Surendra Sitaula informed that the accused were arrested from Itahari-5 Janata Basti´s ward office, where the kidnapped men were kept, at 2 am Monday night. The two were taken away from Hotel Makalu at around 9 pm Monday.
Revenue Investigation Office some three days ago held Sherpa´s truck carrying rice, chemical fertilizers and sugar from Aurabani in Sunsari. Sherpa has claimed that the truck (Na 2 Kha 8898) belonged to Maoist activist Ramesh Dahal. He also said that he was kidnapped after the Maoists learnt that he was carrying Rs 300,000 to free his goods. He said he was saved after three of his other friends informed police about the incident at Hotel Makalu.
Sherpa said that the kidnappers took away the cash, his gold locket and two mobile phones. He also informed that those cadres with weapons fled the scene.
