Luna Shrestha Thakur, director of Change Fusion Nepal, said, “Compared to last year, the participants are more deserving and the award is going to be more competitive.” She further said the objective of the award was not only to celebrate the hidden heroes for their great initiatives but also to showcase their ventures and the impact they have made.
The officials said the event has been promoting social entrepreneurship by identifying, awarding and bringing to the fore leading social entrepreneurs.
The organizers had invited applications from all over Nepal, out of which 15 finalists have been selected.
The award this year will feature an additional recognition titled "NBI Agent of Change," to be awarded to businesses that support enterprise development. The recognition will honor established businesses for their contribution in supporting the culture of entrepreneurship in Nepal, according to the organizers.
A seminar was also held from November 22 to 24 for the benefit of aspiring and existing social entrepreneurs and potential investors.
Last year, SNASEA saw five social entrepreneurs being recognized for their exemplary work and showcased 20.
In October, the organizers had organized Bazar, a platform which brought 60 social entrepreneurs from across Nepal, where they exchanged ideas, interacted and learned from their customers, investors, advisors and mentors.
