SPORTS BRIEFS: Interaction on sports education

KATHMANDU, July 26: National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama has proposed that sports education be included in the higher secondary curriculum. Lama floated such a proposal during an interaction in the capital on Thursday. "I request all the concerned authorities, including the education and sports ministries, PABSON, N-PABSON, HISSAN and universities to support the proposal." [break]



Representatives of different educational institutions, Acting Secretary of sports ministry Shantiram Sharma, Secretary of education ministry Kishor Thapa, Director of Curriculum Development Center, Tribhuvan University Keshav Kumar Shrestha, among others, also aired their views during the interaction.



Mountaineering sports festival in Falgun


KATHMANDU: A meeting of Mountaineering Sports Federation held on Monday decided to hold the first Mountaineering Sports Festival in the Nepali month of Falgun in Pokhara. The festival will include 10 games -- auto sports, rafting and canoeing, triathlon, rock climbing, bungee jump, cross country race, golf, equestrian, paragliding and cycling.



The meeting also approved the logo and flag of the federation and endorsed ´For Nature and Adventure´ as its slogan. The federation led by NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama also nominated Tashi Ghale, the general secretary of Nepal Golf Association, as its vice-president.
