The Galkot Ghumte Development Centre has brought the concept of ´Rhododendron trekking route´ to promote tourism in the Ghumte area, the place full of enchanting natural beauty.
Being located at an altitude of 10,394 feet, it has the rhododendron forests all along the way. The Centre planned to implement rhododendron conservation campaign, manage and organize various activities including the plantation of saplings to develop the route as a rhododendron trekking route, said chairman of the Centre, Jhanka Bahadur Basnet.
A Friendly Tourism Gathering held at the top of the hill has decided to take initiative to declare rhododendron hill, mark Rhododendron Day, and develop the route as a ´rhododendron trek´.
Construction of a trekking route has moved ahead in a speedy manner in view of the Study Visit Year, said Basnet.
"We are preparing to make all the routes to climb the hill rhododendron-friendly to promote tourism in the area," he added.
