Raju´s father Sambhu Pandit Kumhal and uncle Madhusudan Pandit Kumhal had gone to Champanarayan of Bihar on November 7, India upon phone instructions from the kidnappers to pay ransom. In India they were told to hand over the money to one Indian national Binod Singh in Lakaura village near Motihari. [break]They were then sent back saying they would receive Raju in Birgunj.
Raju´s family had received a phone call from the kidnappers five days after he was kidnapped. “We got a call from the kidnappers and were told he had been kidnapped. The kidnappers then demanded Rs 7 million for his release,” said Shambhu. “They had also threatened to kill Raju if we informed about the incident to the police.”
“We have lost all hope of securing our son´s release,” said Raju´s mother Anita Devi.
Meanwhile, SP Pitamber Adhikari said the police would do everything to secure Raju´s release. “A special search team led by inspector Manohar Bhatta has entrusted with investigating into the case,” said Adhikari.
Adhikari informed that the phone call for ransom was made from a PCO in Gantaghar. “It has been verified that the same number was used the last time kidnappers called Raju´s family,” said Adhikari.
