KATHMANDU, March 30: The CPN-UML has finalized the names of 16 lawmakers to be elected under the Proportional Representation (PR) system.
A Secretariat meeting of the party held on Saturday at the residence of UML Chairman K. P. Sharma Oli in Gundu decided to recommend the names to the Election Commission (EC). The decision was announced by UML Deputy General Secretary Lekha Raj Bhatt following the meeting.
According to the party, the recommended candidates represent various clusters, including Janajati, Khas Arya, Tharu, Dalit, Madhesi and Muslim communities in line with the PR inclusion provisions.

Under the Janajati category, the party has recommended Bhumika Subba and Ganga Devi Shrestha as women candidates and Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar and Kulbhakta Shakya as men candidates.
From the Khas Arya cluster, the recommended women candidates are Padhma Aryal, Tuka Bhadra Hamal and Eshuda Kumari Baral representing the backward region, while Guru Prasad Baral and Pushpa Raj Kandel have been nominated as male candidates.
Kripa Ram Rana has been recommended under the Tharu category.
In the Dalit cluster, Bishnu Maya BK and Nita Ghatani have been nominated as women candidates.
Similarly, Ringla Yadav and Yashodha Kumari Yadav have been recommended as women candidates under the Madhesi category, while Chandreshwar Mandal has been nominated as a male candidate.
Under the Muslim category, Sajida Siddiqui has been recommended as a woman candidate.
The party will forward the list to the EC for formal endorsement as part of the PR allocation process.
