KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Paramananda Jha is scheduled to retake oath of office of the vice president in Maithili at 3:30 pm on Sunday, said officials at the president´s office.

The office of vice president has remained inactive for the last five months after Jha refused to take oath in Nepali as directed by the Supreme Court (SC).

The SC had nullified Jha´s oath in Hindi on July 23, 2009, terming it unconstitutional and directed him to retake oath in Nepali.

Jha´s oath taking was confirmed after Jha sent a letter on Saturday to President Ram Baran Yadav informing him that he would take oath of office in Maithili.
