HLPC urges govt to hold productive talks

KATHMANDU, May 13: The High-level Political Committee (HLPC) has urged the Government to hold extensive and result-oriented talks with the dissenting parties and announce the date to the constituent assembly (CA) elections as soon as possible.



The meeting of the HLPC held at the office of the Army Integration Special Committee in New Baneswor earlier this evening decided to also taken initiative on its own for a result-oriented dialogue, according to NC leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat.



The HLPC has also urged the government to form the electoral constituency delimitation commission immediately.



The meeting concluded that the election programme should move ahead as per the schedule even if the agitating parties don´t come to a consensus, Dr Mahat said.



The Committee shall meet again on May 16 and will discuss about reviewing the political appointments made by the past government.



The meeting today was chaired by NC President Sushil Koriala and attended by UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-chairmen Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Narayankaji Shrestha, Congress leaders Dr Mahat, Minendra Rijal, UML Chair Jhalanath Khanal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Oli, and Bijaya Kumar Gachchadar and Mahantha Thakur on behalf of the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
