FinMin requests for IMF resident office in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Finance Minister Shanker Prasad Koirala has urged International Monetary Fund (IMF) authorities to establish the resident office of IMF in Nepal.



Finance Minister Koirala made the proposal to Deputy Director General of IML Nayoki Sinohara during a meeting held at the IMF Headquarters in Washington DC on Friday.[break]



During the meeting, matters relating to the support of IMF in consolidating the Nepali economy and possible future support were discussed, according to the Finance Minister´s press advisor Sanket Koirala.



Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi, Nepali Ambassador to the US Dr Shanker Sharma, Chief of Foreign Division at the Ministry of Finance Madhu Kumar Marasini and Nepal Rastra Bank Deputy Governor Gopal Kafley were present on the occasion.
