Constable Ramesh Khadka, 24, had allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at gun-point at District Police Office (DPO) Okhaldhunga on December 30, 2009. Khadka, of Jyamire-4 VDC in Okhaldhunga, was arrested after the victim´s cousin brother -- also a constable -- lodged a complaint. [break]
“The girl was raped at gunpoint in the toilet,” reads the charge sheet filed against Khadka. The girl had been living with her cousin brother, who has been running a canteen in the DPO. The girl had come to live with her cousin from Khotang six months ago to continue her studies.
According to an investigative official, the girl did not tell anyone about the incident till her cousin brother himself inquired about it four days later. Khadka is learnt to have claimed that he had consensual sex with the girl. It is learnt, however, that the girl is a minor.
According to, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ram Kripal Shah, the chief of DPO Okhaldhunga, the accused has been suspended.
