Police arrested the couple on the basis of complaint filed by the victim´s parents. Police have arrested nine persons for investigation in connection with the murder.

Following the parents´ arrest, police had handed over the children -- Sapana, 13; Sandeep, 10; Bhisal, 9; and Vhisan, 5 -- to a social orgainzation called Women´s Emancipation Society. "They were found helpless therefore we are taking care of them. No one has stepped forward to help them and we don´t think we will be able to look after them forever," said Pampa Rokka, the vice-president of the organization.

Dadeldhura District Police Office chief Binod Ghimire said they handed over the children to the organization because police are not allowed to keep children at police station.

Sapana, the eldest among the children is facing the burden of looking after her siblings. "Since we don´t have close relatives it has become very difficult for me to take care of my brothers," she said.
