KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Tension ran high in Chabahil, Kathmandu on Friday morning after a passenger bus ran over a boy heading for school.

The bus (Na 2 Kha 1787) ran over Ayeram Lama, 7, a first grader at Mitra Lower Secondary School, Ganeshsthan, while he was crossing the road along with five of his schoolmates.

According to Ronija Shrestha, a fourth grader at the same school, who was there when the accident took place, the bus did not stop even when they were trying to pull Ayeram from under its wheels.

"Ayeram was with me when the incident took place," Ronija said. "We tried to pull him but the bus´s back wheels ran over him."

Locals brought vehicular movement around the area for about two hours following the incident.

Chabahil returned to normalcy only after the police nabbed bus driver Bhuvan Giri.

The deceased is a son of Mit Bahadur Lama, a permanent resident of Dapcha, Kavre district.
