CHITWAN, Feb. 19: A border security office has been set up in Chitwan district for maintaining security on the border areas here.

The border security office has been established for the first time. Two hundred and thirty-seven Armed Police Force (APF) personnel will be deployed under the office.[break]

The office has been established under the command of APF superintendent Gajendra Shahi. Shahi said the office has assumed its regular assignment from February 13.

He said although preparations are being made for establishing the Border Security Office at Aanptari in Bharatpur, the office is being run from the APF Gadhimai battalion, Bhandara in east Chitwan for the time being due to the lack of space at that time.

It is said three battalions of the border security personnel will be deployed along the 80-kilometre-long border in the district.
