Zhou visit official: CPC

KATHMANDU Aug 11: The Communist Party of China (CPC) has stated that the forthcoming Nepal visit by party leader Zhou Yongkang is “official” and that Zhou can even sign formal agreements with the Nepal government during his stay in Nepal.



On Thursday, the CPC formally announced the visit by Zhou and termed it “state´s official and goodwill visit.” [break]



Leading a jumbo team of four dozen officials, Zhou is visiting Nepal in the capacity of the special envoy of President Hu Jintao. The CPC standing committee member is arriving in Kathmandu on August 16.



He is scheduled to hold talks with President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, among others.



He is holding talks with Nepali officials on China´s security interests in Nepal.



According to sources, the Nepal government has planned to seek financial support from China for the development of West Seti, and Zhou is likely to announce special economic aid to Nepal.
