The Department of Tourism of Sikkim on Friday welcomed the 25 vintage Beetles with 62 people after they reached the Indian state traveling more than 600 kilometers.
The essence of the rally is to develop cooperation between Sikkim and Nepal.
“This is a very good initiative taken by ANBUG, and we are very grateful to them for organizing the rally to foster cooperation between Nepal and Sikkim. If we look at the history, we had a very harmonious relationship from the very beginning and it is very important to revive that relationship,” said Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, the joint secretary in the Tourism Department of Sikkim government.
ANBUG handed over a token of love to Tourism Department on the occasion. “If we had an organization like this (ANBUG) in Gantok, we would surely have organized a similar trip to Kathmandu. Nonetheless, we´ll find out ways to give continuity to the relationship ANBUG has started,” said Bhutia.
“It´s important to develop people to people contact more than government to government relationship. From our side, we´ll do our best to develop people centric relationship in future,” said Bhutia.
