UML SC, politburo meetings on Friday

KATHMANDU, April 29: As the UCPN (Maoist) party is all set to show its might on May 1 and to launch general strike from May 2, the ruling CPN-UML has called the party´s Standing Committee (SC) and Politburo meetings on Friday.



UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal called the meetings after holding an informal meeting with the party´s SC members and a few UML ministers available in the capital on Thursday. "We have called SC and politburo meetings to discuss the current political situation," party secretary Yuvraj Gyawali said.



The SC meeting will take place at 10 a.m. and the politburo in the afternoon.



Prime Minister Madhav Nepal will arrive in Kathmandu in the morning and attend the meetings. SC member KP Oli, who went to New Delhi Wednesday, is also scheduled to return on Friday morning.
