KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Nepali Congress central member Sujata Koirala said the seven-point pact that was signed by Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushapa Kamal Dahal should be scrapped as it was against the spirit of peace and constitution writing process.

Khanal and Dahal had signed the agreement saying to facilitate the government formation on February 3.[break]

Speaking at a program in the capital, Koirala reiterated that the agreement was against political consensus.

She stressed on the need for moving ahead by creating consensus among the parties and holding talks for democracy. She said Maoists should not be given the responsibility of Home Ministry till they own arms and combatants.

NC could think over whether or not to join the government if the seven-point agreement was canceled.

In the program, Maoist Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma urged the UML to implement the agreement signed between the two parties’ Chairmen instead of blaming each other.

Sharma said the constitution and rules and regulations run the nation instead of ministers.

On the occasion, UML leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha reiterated that the ministries related to security forces could not be given to the Maoist party till it owns arms and armies.
