Kamal Pathak a central committee member of Youth Association Nepal, the youth wing of CPN UML, was critically injured in the attack that took place while he was going from Ratnanagar to Bharatpur, Krishna Khanal, the UML chief of Chitwan said. [break]
His friend and pillion rider Balaram Siwakoti was unhurt in the incident. Pathak, who sustained deep cuts in the hands and head, was rushed to Chitwan Medical College for treatment. He has been referred to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Following the incident, irate YAC activists obstructed vehicular movement and burnt tyres in front of Chitwan Medical College protesting the attack. Security personnel have been heavily deployed around the area to prevent any untoward incident.
