The meeting taking place at the Royal Singhi Hotel in the capital held discussions on matters related to the formation of the national unity government, the new election to the Constituent Assembly, the rules and Acts required for the Constitution and the constitution.[break]
The UCPN (Maoist) called the extended meeting citing that the party leaders differed on the modality of constituting the government of national consensus.
Speaking after the meeting, party vice-chairman and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, said the meeting discussed the entire gamut of political developments.
He said in the meeting talks were held on formation of a national consensus government and finding a way out of the present political crisis.
At the meeting, party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is learnt to have said that conspiracies were being hatched to usurp the politics from the political parties´ hands and that the political parties needed to move ahead by forging consensus.
He has expressed the view that the national unity government should be formed under the leadership of incumbent Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai after forging consensus among the parties, and if that was not possible the topic of constituting the national consensus government under the leadership of any one party in the ruling coalition.
