The clash ensued after meeting held to discuss the alleged illicit relationship of Madhes Rastra Janatrantrik (Revolutionary)’s central member Ram Bilas Yadav with a local woman took nasty turn.[break]
In the villagers’ meeting, Yadav fired at a local, Nathuni Paswan, killing him on the spot. Paswan was shot twice in the chest. Immediately after Paswan’s death, a local hacked Yadav to death.
Police recovered a homemade gun and 10 rounds of bullets from Yadav’s body.
Similarly, Bechan, the brother of Nathuni Paswan, also sustained bullet injury in his hand and he has been taken to Dharan for treatment.
Durgapur remained tense after the incident. Police said they are searching for the persons involved in the incident.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Lahan Hospital for postmortem.
