According to Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Durga Prasad Bhattarai, visiting Foreign Minister Davutoglu is scheduled to call on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal on Thursday. [break]
Davutoglu will discuss the fourth LDC conference during his talks, along with international and regional affairs and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Turkish and Nepali officials will also review preparations for the fourth LDC conference, which will take place in Istanbul, the capital city of Turkey, between May 9 and 13, as Nepal is the current chair of LDC group that has a total 48 countries.
He will then fly to New Delhi to take part in foreign ministerial-level meeting called The Positive Contribution of South-South Cooperation for Least Developed Countries´ Development. Minister without portfolio Gangalal Tuladhar is leading the Nepali delegation in the conference as foreign minister is yet to be appointed.
The two-day conference beginning Friday in New Delhi aims at assessing the results of the 10-year action plan the LDCs adopted at the third United Nations conference on LDCs in Brussels in 2001. Participating countries also plan to adopt new measures and strategies for the sustainable development of LDCs in the next decade.
