An unidentified gang on Wednesday had shot at Thapa while he was heading to Taplejung from Jhapa driving the bus.[break]
Vehicles bound for long and short routes have stayed off the road due to the bandh. Roads leading to Panchthar, Taplejung and Jhapa from Ilam have worn a deserted look.
However, vehicles carrying patients, journalists and representatives for foreign missions have been playing unhindered.
Agitating workers have said the bandh will continue till police personnel bring the guilty to justice.
The transport bandh comes just one week after the agitation of tea workers that had hit hard the eastern region.
