In addition, transport entrepreneurs have continued to disrupt Chinchhu-Jajarkot section of the road for the past two weeks following the incident.

Transport entrepreneurs and workers, whose strike will end on Sunday, have demanded that the government declare Budhathoki as a martyr, provide compensation to the victim´s family and take legal action against those involved in the murder. They have also warned of an indefinite strike if the government failed to meet their demands by September 30.

On September 12, Budhathoki was mercilessly thrashed and thrown into the river by infuriated locals after his bus (Na. 3 Kha 6651) ran over a three-year old Indira B.C. Budhathoki´s dead body was recovered at Kunathari in Surkhet six days later.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Raju Manandhar, seven persons accused of killing Budhathoki have been arrested for interrogation. However, the other nine accused are at large.

As all short and long route buses halted, normal life has been crippled throughout mid and far western regions.
