KATHMANDU, May 10: Tourism Crisis Management Cell (TCMC) of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with other tourism related associations have appealed to Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationality (NEFIN) not to organize banda that it is enforcing on Friday.

Bachhu Narayan Shrestha, first vice-president of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), asked the government to make sure that such events do not take place. “We are already trying from our side. We want the government to take some initiative in protecting our tourism industry,” he added.

Speaking at the meet, tourism leaders said they were not against demand of NEFIN, but it was not a wise move to trouble the entire country and affect national economy.

They have asked the banda organizers to be sensitive as the country is observing the year 2011 as Nepal Tourism Year.

HRA, TAAN, Nepal Association of Tours Operators (NATO), Nepal Association of Rafting Agents (NARA), Society of Adventure Tour Operators of Nepal (SATON), Expedition Operators Association of Nepal (EOAN), Tourist Guide Association of Nepal (TURGAN) and the Nepal chapter of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) also signed an appeal letter to show solidarity of tourism associations against the banda.
