Thai investors interested to invest in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Private sector of Thailand has shown interest to invest in hydropower, tourism and agriculture sectors in Nepal.



At a meeting with office-bearers of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Tuesday, leader of Thai business delegation Chayapan Bumrungphong expressed commitment to promote Nepal´s tourism in Thailand as well as extend support in Nepal´s development initiative.[break]



Speaking on the occasion, Maris Sangiampongsa, Thai ambassador to Nepal, urged private sector of the both countries to formulate concrete plans for exploiting hydropower, tourism and agriculture potentials in Nepal.



Suraj Vaidya, president of FNCCI, urged Thai business people to invest in tourism, infrastructure, hydropower, agriculture and medicinal herb production -- some of the highly potential areas for investment identified by the government.



Vaidya also stressed the need to establish Nepal-Thai Economic Council to harvest the potential of joint collaboration in bi-lateral trade.



He also urged the Thai business community to open subsidiaries of Thai manufacturers in Nepal.
