Tamrakar, Thapa win veterans' title

KATHMANDU, March 4: Gyanendra Tamrakar clinched the title of 55 plus veterans men´s category in the 10th Nepal Investment Bank Open Tennis Tournament on Thursday.







Tamrakar defeated Pawan Agrawal in straight sets in the final match played at the Satdobato Tennis Court. Tamrakar won both sets 6-1. [break]



Likewise, former minister Kamal Thapa won the title of veterans men´s 45 plus age group defeating Krishna Raj Ghale in the final match. Thapa won the match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.



The duo of Chandra Shahi and Sovitman Shrestha clinched the title of veterans men´s 35 plus doubles category in the tournament organized by All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association. Shahi and Shrestha defeated Manoj Rana and Sanu Gurung 1-6, 6-3, 10-4.



Madhukar Shamsher Rana and Murari Bhakta Mathema entered the final of the singles event of veterans men´s 65 plus age group. Rana beat Udaya Shrestha 6-1, 6-4. Mathema had won the first set 6-1 in the semifinal against Mohan Bahadur Shahi, who retired from the match after the first set.







Likewise, Jyoti Rana and Renu Bajracharya booked berths in the doubles final of veterans women´s 35 plus age group while the pair of Kumar Adhikari and Jitendra Pariyar as well as the duo of Shriram Magar and Manoj Rana entered the final of men´s doubles.
