The committee headed by NTA Vice president Sanjeeb Regmi has demanded that the players who were deprived of the opportunity to compete in the qualifiers of the Youth Olympic Games due to negligence of the authorities concerned be compensated. [break]
Earlier, the committee had submitted its six-point demand to the Youth and Sports Ministry and the NOC on March 2.
A press release issued by the NTA stated that the committee was formed as the Youth and Sports Ministry and the NOC turned a deaf ear to their demands. The struggle committee has warned of intensified protests if their demands are not met till Tuesday.
“We will padlock the NOC if our demands are not met,” said committee members who had reached the NOC to submit the memorandum.
The members were furious to find that the officials of the NOC were not present in the office. “We had informed them that we were coming but they seem to have ignored us. All the officials gather here before international tournaments but no one is to be found when there is a problem,” said NTA Kathmandu district President Kabi Raj Khadgi.
Some members even tried to vandalize the office after learning that the officials would take time to reach office.
