The banda affected life in Taulihawa, Krishnanagar, Gorusinghe in Kapilvastu district with vehicles staying off the roads, and schools and factories closing down.
Transport services, industries and educational institutions remained closed in Dhangadhi due to the strike called also against the Madhesi parties’ demand for single Madhes state across the Tarai. The Tharu bodies are demanding multi-states across the Tarai.
Markets and transport services were also affected in Butwal and Bhairahawa.
Meanwhile, a banda called by Tamsaling Nepal National Party affected normal life in Makwanpur and Chitwan. The strike affected transport services, schools and factories. The district level exam of Grade VIII was also postponed in Hetauda due to the banda. The banda also affected Palung, Bajrabarahi, Manahari and Phaparbari bazaars.
In Dhading, the Tamsaling strike affected traffic along the Prithvi Highway. Tamsaling cadres obstructed the highway from early in the morning. They also burnt copies of Kantipur daily. When police tried to open the highway, they clashed with the police, leaving two policemen injured at Mahadevbesi.
The irate activists vandalized four vehicles including a tourist vehicle. Police detained seven Tamang cadres.
