KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Nepal Police Club (NPC) continued its dominance in the second day of the Seventh Dorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament with twin wins on Friday. In the matches played at New Buspark Ground, Balaju, NPC registered a convincing 25-1, 25-2, 25-7 win over Chandeshori Youth Club and the departmental team also hammered Bijeshori School 25-5, 25-7, 25-14.



Angel´s Heart, New Diamond and Armed Police Force (APF) also registered wins. Angel´s Heart defeated Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center (JVTC) 25-9, 25-16, 17-25, 25-18. New Diamond overcame JVTC 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-10 while APF beat Tops Academy of Pokhara 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19.[break]



Hands ´A´ in semis


KATHMANDU: Hands A, K and K College A and Tempas Social Organization on Friday fixed the semifinal spot in the Friendly Knockout Men´s Football Tournament. In the match played at Sano Gaucharan, K and K beat Hands B 2-0 in a tiebreaker. In another match, Hands A thrashed Swopna Batika A 4-0 and Tempas edged past K and K B 1-0. Swopna Batika B defeated Prarambha 2-1 and fixed the quarterfinal spot.


Saipal confirms semifinal berth


KATHMANDU: Saipal Academy has confirmed its place in the semifinal of the Second Ideal Inter School Basketball Tournament in the senior boy´s category on Friday. Saipal beat the host Ideal School 22-12 to top group B. Suraj Lama scored nine points for the win. In the junior boy´s category, Awareness International Academy (AIA) defeated Ideal 22-19. Samrat Basnet scored 13 points for the winning team.



National Campus to lock horns with Morgan


KATHMANDU: National Campus and Morgan International College will lock horns in the final of Third BST Cup Inter College Boy´s Basketball Tournament. In the semifinal matches played at the Court of BST College on Friday, National Campus overcame Bagmati Modern College 65-46. Prajun Pokhrel scored 22 points for the winning team. In another match, Saurav Shrestha´s 25 points helped Morgan register 70-60 win over Golden Gate College.



Pariyar wins gold


KATHMANDU: Raj Pariyar of Voice of Children won gold in the First New Golds Valleywide Invitational Taekwondo Tournament on Friday. Pariyar defeated Kiran Bhujel of Lalit Taekwondo Dojang in Junior boy´s 28-31kg weight category. In junior boy´s 31-34kg weight category, Sumit Moktan of Lalit beat Babin Bista of Jawalakhel for the gold. In the 34-37kg weight category, Suraj Shrestha defeated Henamta Shahi of The Challengers for the gold. Likewise, the winners of gold medal in other weight categories include Puja Shrestha of Om Taekwondo Dojang (45-48kg), Santoshi Buda of Lalit (33kg), Nima Gurung of Chyasikoti (60kg), Muna Rai of Chyasikoti (49-51kg).


JVD XI beats Real Hitters

KATHMANDU: JVD XI defeated Ebisu Real Hitters by 37 runs in a group stage match in the Riddhi Siddhi Marwadi T20 Cricket Tournament on Friday. JVD XI, batting first, put up 125 runs for six wickets in 20 overs as Shailendra Sharma scored 35 runs. Ritesh Agrawal added 25 runs. Subham Agrawal took four wickets for Real Hitters. Chasing the modest total, Real Hitters were all out for 88 runs in 15.1 overs. Ikesh Pandey contributed 25 runs for Real Hitters. Manish Mittal took three wickets for JVD XI. Shailendra Sharma, who scored 35 runs and took two wickets, was adjudged man-of-the-match.



Support for ailing judo coach

KATHMANDU: Nepal Judo Association (NJA) has extended its support to ailing judo coach Chandra Narayan Chaudhary of Saptari district. NJA on Friday announced to provide Rs 50,000 to Chaudhary, who is undergoing treatment for kidney stones and paralysis at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. NJA President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya handed a check of Rs 36,000 to Chaudhary and assured to provide the remaining amount soon. According to Bajracharya, Chaudhary was admitted to the hospital three weeks ago.
